Citizen Science

Currently one of the event types we offer, Citizen Science groups all available opportunities where people with no formal education in science can take part in scientific research in our natural areas. Our first Citizen Science events were held at Hacienda la Esperanza in Manatí, thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). A second grant from the NSF is currently making possible the implementation a new, three-year research initiative under the name Exploring Life in the Río Grande de Manatí, which focuses in the area making up the river’s drainage basin.

Other individual research projects, both in Hacienda La Esperanza and in other natural areas have been added to our offerings under this event type, which includes events from programs like Map of Life and Champion Trees, among others.
